In the 1930s, a registered charity was established to manage the social and recreational facilities within Church Broughton, administered by three trustees and the Village Hall & Playing Fields Committee. The committee was renamed the Church Broughton Park Committee in 2022 to recognise its responsibility for managing the Park in the centre of the village, whilst options for the creation of a Village Hall are under consideration by the Village Hall & Meeting Places Working Group.
The park includes the following recreational facilities which are available for anyone to use:
Tennis Court
Boules Pitch
Table Tennis table
Children’s Football area
Picnic tables and benches
Children’s playground equipment, including swings and slides
There are 3 gazebos [10m x 4m] which are available for hire – please contact Alistair Coast-Smith for details.
The park and equipment are regularly inspected, repaired and maintained as necessary. However please contact any member of the Committee if you notice anything of concern. Note that the facilities are not supervised therefore anyone in charge of children is responsible for their safe use of the facilities. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the park.
In order to foster community spirit and social life, as well as to provide funds to maintain the park and its equipment, the committee also organise village events throughout the year. These help to make Church Broughton a special community in which to live. Some of these events are listed below:
Quiz
Easter Trail
May Day Fete
Music on the Park
Christmas Party
Please look out for information about these events either on the VH&PFC Facebook page, the village WhatsApp group, posters on village noticeboards or via e-mail to all those on the village directory.
